Dover Post facility sold

The $1.4 million sale of the Dover Post’s printing facility and longtime headquarters on 1196 South Little Creek Road in Dover closed in mid May.

According to R&R Commercial Realty, the brokerage acting as the buyer’s agent, the 24,000 square-foot warehouse will continue to house the Gannett-owned weekly newspaper.

“The buyer plans to rent a portion of the building back to the Dover Post so they can continue to operate there, but in the rest of the building he’ll be moving in some light manufacturing,” said Carl Kaplan, the buyer’s agent.

First put up for sale late last year, the warehouse was built back in 1981 and sits on a more than 8-acre lot.

“I’d say it’s a good outcome for the property,” said Kaplan. “There isn’t a lot of warehouse/manufacturing space like this in Dover so it’s nice to see that it’ll be used efficiently. But, it’s also nice to see that the Dover Post will stick around.”
